June 27, 2014

Today is a sea day.  I slept until about 6 a.m. but was wide awake as the sun came up.  So got up and did my 6/26 trip report.

Took a couple pictures of my stateroom door as promised:

Then headed up on deck to do my walking this morning.  I was out at 7:30 a.m.  I guess with all the travelling everyone did and losing an hour last night, no one was up.  A good time to take some pictures of the ship. (Sorry, I have to watch downloading photos, just an FYI for those cruising in the next couple of cruises, on my trip report for yesterday I used 64 MB of my 300 MG package.)  I will be looking for free wifi at some of the ports if there is time so I can post for free and not use my package on board.

Stopped at Daisy’s De Lites (used to be Goofy’s Galley) for the breakfast champions.  My favorite the strawberry tugboat smoothie and a chocolate croissant.  I am not a real breakfast person, so this did the trick.

There was not a big announcement in the front of the navigator, but if you looked inside for the insert, Anna and Elsa from Frozen were in the Walt Disney Theater at 9 a.m.  No tickets were necessary and everyone just lined up.  My daughter Jamie also asked me to track down her friend Anna, so I had to go see them.  The crew sat us in row in the theater.  I was in the third row, but with all the parents and cameras and stuff, there was only a 10 minute wait to see them.  (Nothing compared to the 310 minutes since they moved to Magic Kingdom).  Anna was so excited to see me and asked about Jamie and where was she?  I told her now that she is married, she had to stay home and that she was finishing her final quarter of college and will graduate in August so she was unable to come.  Anna said I needed to give big hugs to Jamie.  I told her I would when I saw her and Quentin in August.  She said we will have to get together while I am on the ship for 30 days.  So, I will meet up with “Anna” sometime later in the cruise.  Of course, I brought Olaf along, Anna and Elsa played right along and loved his talking and singing.

After that the Disney Vacation Club celebration started at 9 a.m. so I headed over at 9:15 a.m.  They gave out new hats.  Also there was a new card given last night to go pick up your gift.  They are DVC lanyard slides.  They are pretty big.  They will be giving gifts out to members during the whole cruise.
Next, I got ready for the Castaway Club Platinum/Gold Reception that was held at 11 a.m.  Got a new photo with Captain Mickey

Then headed by the atrium where there was a princess gathering.  Cinderella, Belle and Tiana were out.  There are many more princess gatherings throughout the cruise.  I didn’t get pictures, but instead talked to Jeanna who Jamie and I got to know real well on the Magic last summer the month we were on. She is an incredible performer.  I am so glad she came back along with Emma, Patrick and Joey from the Magic 30 contract last year.  Can’t wait to see her perform in many of the shows in the Walt Disney Theater. I will have to get a picture of her one of the nights she is out and about the ship.

After that went to the pool for a couple hours and read my book on my Ipad and took a little nap.  Olaf enjoyed his time in the shade

Then stopped and picked up my merchandise from the store.  Got a couple shirts and a Limited Edition Pin

Came back to the room to get ready for dinner and was greeted by a cheese tray from the Hotel Director.  The grapes are really delicious.

Then had to hurry and get ready for the Captain’s Reception.  The time just flies by on Sea Days.  Headed down to the Captain’s Reception and got my picture with Captain Robert. We practiced our Greek by saying “Yasoo” which means hello in Greek.  “Adio” means goodbye.  I figure those two words will get me through the Greek islands.  LOL

Ran into Maroly who was introducing each person to the Captain.  Had a quick pic with her tonight:

Then ran into Brent and the International Ambassador this summer.  I forget his name but he actually works in Celebration for DCL and is over her for the summer for the Mediterranean cruises.

Headed to Palo for dinner and got a group picture with the guys:

Andrea is our server. I don't know how I missed getting a picture with her.  We will be eating there again for brunch next week, so I will be sure to get one then.

Silvio, the head chef, came over to welcome me back and I introduced him to Michael, Rusty and Keith.  I asked Silvio if he could fix me a special salmon dish something that is not on the menu, and Michael asked for anything “Chef’s Choice” which ended up being a steak cut into thirds lengthwise with Buffalo Mozzarella and Truffle Oil.  Michael said it was delicious.  My salmon was excellent.  After our dinner, Silvio came back to the table to thank us for allowing him to make something special.  He said he truly enjoys that but doesn’t get asked often.

Then Alvin came by and I presented him with a pen that Scott Hughes, our good friend, from Soggy Moose Travels made for him. (you can find Soggy Moose Travels on Facebook)  Alvin was thrilled with the pen. He sends his thanks to Scott

Quickly ate our wonderful dessert, Chocolate Souffle, and then headed to the Walt Disney Theater for Villians Tonight.  As we walked along deck 10, there was a beautiful sunset off to the west.

Then ran back to the room to quickly change into our casual clothes so we could head back to the Walt Disney Theater for the 10:45 p.m. show for adults only with Taylor Mason.  When I arrived back in the room, a special lithograph, commemorating the inaugural sailing of the home port of Venice, by Don Ducky Williams was sitting on my bed with a note from Captain Robert.

Then headed off to the Walt Disney Theater for Taylor Mason’s show.  It was pretty funny. Now it is going on midnight and have to get to bed because tomorrow is our first port, Katakolon, home of the Olympic Games.

  1. What a great Sea Day! Love the lithograph.
I found that if I put my blog in an email and inserted the pictures, that saved bandwidth rather than uploading thru blogspot. I also found making a collage of pictures let me share more photos as the collage would upload as one image. I don't know if you set your blog to update by email or not, it's easy to do so when you have free wifi, look at your blog settings. Also if you are doing pics from a tablet, photo apps are pretty easy, but I don't know about collating from a laptop.

Truly enjoying the virtual cruise... Looking forward to the rest!

  3. I see an original Fish Extender! My mom and I may have met Maroly on our 4 night Magic at the end of April, she was going on vacation the next day so not sure of the timing. It was the last night of the cruise and she was on stair duty for Til we meet again. She may recall the night because this little girl was crying and sobbing because they had waited a LONG time to see Mickey walk up the stairs and this woman just stepped right in front of this little girl as Mickey came by. Maroly felt so bad because there was nothing she could do. We chatted for a bit about her vacation to Wisconsin. Your trip is starting out amazing!!!

  4. Thanks for the tips about uploading pictures.
I will say hi to Chef Silvio. Yes I delivered your blue bag to Guest Services. I will say his to Brent.
Deb-yes, I use your original fish extender all the time. When asked I always talk about how you started the whole phenomenon of the fish extender! It is totally crazy now what people do!
